Black letters

Beneath the rule of men entirely great, "The Pen" is mightier than the Sword.

The good thing about writing is you dont have to shed a tear or bleed for something that you want. You just try to make peaceful propagandas through writing. Well for me (in Architecture), The Pen symbolizes the concepts you present and the smooth talks that you tell your client. And the Sword symbolizes the illustrations and sketchings you do. Well part of the sketching belongs to the "the pen" portion but it generally belongs to the Sword theory.

Im posting concepts about my school project, ( Reconstruction and Redevelopment of Iglesia Y Convento De Santo Domingo in Intramuros) just so you know why i keep on talking about churches.

Here are more concepts that ive developed.

For me, churches should be simple but yet elegant. They should portray humility and simpleness at all times. Humilty can be shown inside a church through the application of simple materials such as bamboo claddings, capiz shells. The bamboos could replace the design for high ceilings, and the capiz shells could replace the big tracery windows. Through this we do not only humble our churches, but also share the beauty of Filipino materials.

I'm showing you a concept of a great architect from the Gothic world, The Age of The Great Cathedrals.

" The pictures in the rose windows are primarily for the humble, who cannot read the Word, to show them what to believe" - Abbot Suger

path to heritage / reliving our past through reconstruction and redevelopment

just as promised, im gonna share some concepts.

here are some concepts ive gathered.

In cities, towns, and villages, the church is often the most striking structure. It is an imposing monument to history and zealous of faith of the people. Perhaps, more than any other buildings, churches provide a more tangible "FEEL" of the Philippines itself; they are for the most part rich in historical significance and play a direct part in the way of life of most of the people.

nice huh. what i am saying is, when you think of Philippine heritage, what comes into our mind? most of you would answer churches right? yeah so one way to relive our past is bring back our heritage. Heritage thats long been forgotten because of all the trends the architects follow. Projects today concentrates more on the trajectory of our new knowledge and advanced technology. Dont get me wrong, i am not saying that it is a bad thing. Im just saying that with these new methods continuing to be a fad in our architects, our heritage is slowly being taken from us.

Look at Intramuros now, have you ever pondered on how beautiful it was before? The Intramuros we know today looks like shit. Though measures have been taken by our government to address these problems, it is yet to be solved. And now it is up to us, future architects, to mold the future to something that is reminiscient of the past. Look at the Romans, how did the Reinaissance even started? It started when they built on the ruins of ancient Rome. They didn't have to look for a brand new place because they knew that they already got whats enough to build an empire that would be called the "Golden Age". Compare them to us, we fill in our heritage with what, pedicab terminals? mmda urinal spots? gymansiums? Oh come on! How could this be happening when there are laws being passed to preserve our heritage. what happened to PD1616(Preservation of Intramuros) ? What happened to our heritage?

im addicted to writing

should i really accept criticisms? haha i just hate it when people criticize my work. so shut up people. i have high blood. heh

i am addicted to peoples quotes. you know, quotes from "big shot people". they make it look so easy to pull one but it takes forever to develop one.

are you with me on this?

maybe i should start putting my design concepts here so people could start quoting me already.
